Akademia Młodych Uczonych i Artystów oraz Instytut Filozofii Uniwersytetu Wrocławskiego serdecznie zapraszają na dyskusję panelową pt. Philosophical Community – Academic Community, która odbędzie się 5 maja o godzinie 18:00 w Żyjni w Galerii Dizajn BWA Wrocław. W spotkaniu wezmą udział dr Eli Orner Kramer (Instytut Filozofii UWr) oraz członkinie i członek Prezydium Akademii Młodych Uczonych i Artystów: przewodniczący – dr Filip Duszyński (Instytut Geografii i Rozwoju Regionalnego UWr), wiceprzewodnicząca – dr Urszula Komarnicka (Wydział Chemii UWr) oraz członkini Prezydium – mgr Alicja Patanowska (Akademia Sztuk Pięknych im. E. Gepperta we Wrocławiu). Dyskusję będzie moderowała dr Urszula Lisowska (Instytut Filozofii UWr, członkini zwyczajna AMUiA).
Punktem wyjścia rozmowy będzie, z jednej strony, najnowsza publikacja Elia Kramera, poświęcona idei wspólnoty filozoficznej (Intercultural Modes of Philosophy, Volume 1: Principles to Guide Philosophical Community, Brill 2021) oraz, z drugiej strony, założenia Akademii Młodych Uczonych i Artystów jako interdyscyplinarnej sieci współpracy młodych badaczy i artystów. Obrazem łączącym oba te wątki może być Platońska Akademia – wspólnota filozoficzna, która zarazem funkcjonuje jako model holistycznej wspólnoty badań. Czy obecnie jest jeszcze miejsce dla wspólnot filozoficznych? Czy Akademię Młodych Uczonych i Artystów można potraktować jako współczesny przykład wspólnoty akademickiej? Czy obie te wspólnoty – filozoficzna i akademicka – mają szansę wpłynąć na kształt zinstytucjonalizowanego życia akademickiego? Czy ich możliwe oddziaływanie sięga poza ich bezpośrednie obszary zainteresowania, w stronę szerszego społecznego kontekstu? Te i inne pytania będą stanowiły przedmiot dyskusji filozofów i akademików.
Wydarzenie stanowi część cyklu „Miasto myśli. Prowokacje filozoficzne” realizowanego przez Instytut Filozofii w ramach miejskiego programu „Rok Dobrych Relacji”. Dyskusja odbędzie się w języku angielskim.

The Academy of Young Scholars and Artists and The Institute of Philosophy of The University of Wrocław are happy to invite you to the panel discussion Philosophical Community – Academic Community, which will take place on May 5th, 6 p.m., in the Żyjnia space of the Dizajn BWA Wrocław gallery. The panellists will include Dr Eli Orner Kramer (The Institute of Philosophy of the University of Wrocław) and the members of the Presidential Board of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists – the President, Dr Filip Duszyński (The Institute of Geography and Regional Development of the University of Wrocław), the Vice-President, Dr Urszula Komarnicka (The Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Wrocław) and the Board Member, Alicja Patanowska, MA (the E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wrocław). The discussion will be moderated by Dr Urszula Lisowska (The Institute of Philosophy of the University of Wrocław, ordinary member of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists).
The starting point of the conversation is, on the one hand, Eli Kramer’s latest book, dedicated to the idea of a philosophical community (Intercultural Modes of Philosophy, Volume 1: Principles to Guide Philosophical Community, Brill 2021) and, on the other, the principles behind the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists as an interdisciplinary network of researchers and artists. Both of these themes can be combined in the image of Plato’s Academy – a philosophical community that also functions as a model of the holistic community of inquiries. Is there a room for philosophical communities today? Can the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists be seen as a contemporary example of an academic community? Can both of these communities – the philosophical and the academic one – transform the institutionalised academic life? Does their potential influence reach beyond their immediate scope of their concern and towards the society at large? These and other questions will be the addressed during the meeting.
The event is part of the cycle “The city of thoughts. Philosophical provocations” organised by the Institute of Philosophy in the framework of the municipal programme “The Year of Good Relations”. The meeting will be held in English.
