The form of the conference, combining lectures, seminars and artistic events refers to the idea of unity between art and science. It is a closing event of the project which so far has featured design workshops, a sociological seminar and a selection of lectures on diverse subject matters: from cosmology to genetics. The aim of the conference is to create the space for an interdisciplinary dialog between representatives of various disciplines, which is why its important element is to gather renowned specialists representing diverse fields of science and art in one place. The lectures are of an open character and they grasp the title ‘excess and lack’ from the perspective of various disciplines.

When characterizing contemporariness we often speak of excess: an overabundance of form, the overproduction of images and information, excessive consumption. Simultaneously it is easy to indicate the areas of acute lack and emptiness. A series of questions come up: is the balance or its lack, objective in character? Are they an immanent property of reality, or only our subjective judgment of it?
